That sweet, unbearable urge to peek through a tiny crack and find out what’s going on at the neighbours’… We want to know it all – and we want to know it now. We are champions at finding answers to questions nobody is asking. Let’s face it – closed doors and high fences are a constant thorn in the side of our inner peace. The saying “curiosity killed the cat” obviously didn’t come out of nowhere.
And so we keep peeking, until we finally succeed. Instead of enlightenment, however, a moment often comes when we would gladly trade half a kingdom and up to three princesses for an immediate memory wipe – that we improperly intruded on someone’s privacy, or worse, found out what the other side really thinks of us.
But let’s not despair. Perhaps there is no existential crisis waiting behind the fence, just ordinary gossip that we aren’t recycling. Again.
Artist’s note: We do.
