We all know this story.
It began innocently enough, or so it seemed: the desire to be exceptional met the promise of power. How it ended, we know all too well.
Unfortunately, Troy is not just a chapter in a history textbook. We build it ourselves out of the winding alleys of our own illusions – believing that a perfect appearance defines our worth, success fills the inner void, or power over others makes us safe. These illusions are just like that brilliant Greek gift. Voluntarily and with great enthusiasm, we drag our ego’s ingenious ideas right into our living rooms, even though we secretly sense disaster.
Our private Troy rarely burns down all at once. It mostly smoulders gradually through small compromises, ever-present doubts, and choices we were never free in making. But once the fire finally runs its course, we can start building again on empty ground – this time with a good old common sense and a much better sense of humour.
