We are live on the crime scene, witnessing a historic moment a split-second before disaster strikes. Starring: one tempting apple and our first parents currently hesitating over whether to take a bite. From where we stand in the future, we know exactly what kind of mess this choice got them into, and that their carefree stay in paradise is about to come to an end.
Yet, this eviction from paradise isn’t a total loss. The Great Scriptwriter can take even our biggest blunders and weave them into an even more magnificent story. Outside of paradise, real life truly began – a life filled with suffering, but also with beautiful moments that taste so sweet precisely because they were hard-won.
The good news is that we now have the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth and can make better choices than those two under the tree. The bad news? We still enjoy the full freedom to take another bite of the same apple at any moment.
The point of the game isn’t to cower in a corner for fear of making a mistake, but to gather enough sanity along the way to leave the next tempting apple hanging – with elegance.
